A LITTLE BACKGROUND

This website acts as a portfolio for Karlito's creative journey, which is a meandering river, flowing in many directions, from visual art, to the written word and poetry, as well as music in the art form of DJing. I hope you enjoy perusing Karlito's creativity, feel free to purchase pieces. All comments are welcome.

I dedicated nearly 20 years of my life to improving, and saving, the lives of patients in operating theatres of Britain's NHS, and hospitals in Australia. During my career in critical care, I attended cardiac arrest, and trauma calls. It was high stakes, high stress stuff. Especially as I usually worked in emergency theatres. I had a work hard- play hard ethos. However, burning the candle at both ends, with a blow torch in the middle, led to burnout and I retired with ill-health in 2005. I now suffer stress-related rapid onset paranoid schizophrenia.

Having been forced to take things easier has had tremendous positive effects upon my soul. One such effect has been my pursuit of creative endeavours. I have re-invented myself as a Creative. For the past 18 years, since 2005, I have developed my artistic abilities, and continue to do so. I attained an A* A-level in Art & Design, and now; paint, produce digital art, sculpt, write, compose poetry, and DJ.

I prefer art which has something to say, especially political and social commentary. I am the founder of the Polemic Analytical Expressionist movement: A movement that promotes the expression of politics in any art form.
